How to Apply

Ready to have the best first-year experience ever? Let’s get you started.

If you’ve been accepted to first-year studies in the Faculty of Forestry or the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, you can apply to join the Land One community. Haven’t been admitted to UBC yet? Check out the Admission section of the UBC Calendar for details on applying to your desired faculty.

If you’re in Forestry, you’re eligible for Land One if you are in the Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources or Bachelor of Urban Forestry. It is a particularly good fit for the Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources.

If you’re in Land and Food Systems (LFS), you’re eligible for enrolment in Land One if you’re taking a Bachelor of Science in Applied Biology or a Bachelor of Science in Food, Nutrition and Health. If you plan to apply in second year to the Global Resource Systems or Food and Resource Economics, Land One is still a great fit.

Since Land One integrates five courses, you’ll need to have the following prerequisites for us to consider your application:

  • To take BIOL 121, you’ll need Biology 11 or 12, or BIOL 111.
    • To take MATH 180, you’ll need:
      • One of BC Principles of Mathematics 12 or Pre-calculus 12, and
      • A grade of 80% or higher in BC Principles of Mathematics 12 or Pre-calculus 12
    • No prereqs for FRST/LFS 101, 110 and 150!

One final word: enrolment in Land One is limited by size, so apply early! Submit your application online by May 15. As part of your application, you’ll need to include a letter of intent explaining why you want to join the Land One cohort (500 words max).
